This kitchen had all the charm of a fax machine that still, kinda works. It was clearly time for a kitchen rescue.
The Starting Point
Rukmini and her husband Collen reached out to Rossle Homes after purchasing a classic 1987 home in Gold River. While the rest of the house had charm, the kitchen hadnโt been touched in almost 40 years. It still had tile counters, drop lighting, and an enclosed layout that made it feel disconnected from the rest of the space.
Rukmini was clear about what she wanted:
- Beautiful, high-quality cabinets
- An open layout with a bar-style peninsula
These two items were non-negotiable, and we were all in.
The Vision
Our team began with 3D renderings to help the Boses visualize their new kitchen. We focused on:
- Removal of a non-load bearing wall to open up the space.
- Semi-custom beach taupe cabinets to warm up the space while staying neutral.
- Custom granite countertops with consistent patterns.
- Pantry organizers to make the layout more efficient.
- Brushed nickel hardware and fixtures for a soft touch.
- Glass-front upper cabinets at the coffee bar.
- A deep farmhouse-style sink to add a touch of class.
- Appliance relocation to improve the footprint of the kitchen.
The goal was to transform this dated kitchen and bring it into the modern era.
We started by knocking down the wall that closed the kitchen off from the dining area. This gave us the freedom to build a peninsula with bar seating and install a sleek range hood over a new induction cook-top. In place of the dated tile, we laid matte black porcelain flooring for a bold, modern base.
The Remodel Process
From day one, communication was key. We provided:
- Daily project updates
- Clear timelines and expectations
- On-site coordination with trades and vendors
Ruk and Collen noted how stress-free the experience felt thanks to our consistent updates and transparent process.
Bringing It All Together
We used high-level project management, daily updates, and 3D renderings to ensure Rukmini had a clear picture of what was happeningโevery step of the way.
By the time we wrapped, both Rukmini and Collen were thrilled with the transformation. They told us they were especially happy with the color scheme, the flow of the layout, and finally having a kitchen that felt like the update they were looking for.
